Nick Ballou (Director) nick_ballou@lax4lifelacrosse.com

Coach Ballou is entering his second year as the Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Victor High School. 

Prior to arriving at Victor, he was the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Dominican College in Orangeburg NY.  He set a school record for wins in a season in 2007 and tied that record in 2008.  He coached the Chargers to key victories over #10 St. Michaels in 2007 and #12 St. Leo in 2008.

Before arriving at Dominican, Ballou was the Head Assistant at SUNY Geneseo.  In his three years as an assistant, the team advanced to the SUNYAC final each season and won the championship in 2003.  The team also made two appearances in the ECAC Tournament, capturing the title in 2003 and participating in the 2005 tournament.  In 2004, Geneseo advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.     

A 2002 graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo, Ballou earned his bachelor's degree in elementary and special education.  He was a member of the men's lacrosse team for four years and was named captain in his junior and senior seasons.  Among being a four-time All Conference selection, he led a defense that was ranked 13th in the nation in 2002.  He also helped lead Geneseo to their first Division III top twenty ranking and was Geneseo's first player ever selected to play in the Division 3 North-South All-Star Game. 

Ballou is a 1998 graduate of Irondequoit High School.  He was selected a High School All-American after his senior season and was named 1st team All-Monroe County in his Junior and Senior seasons.  He was also selected to play in the Senior All-Star game and was a member of the 1997 Western Empire State team.

Since 1998 Coach Ballou has worked and directed numerous lacrosse camps across the East Coast.

Steve Youngman (Director) steve_youngman@lax4lifelacrosse.com

 

Coach Youngman is in his fourth season as the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at West Irondequoit High School.  In 2007 he helped coach the team to its 13 Section V Championship and in 2008 he helped lead the team back to the finals. 

 

Additionally Coach Youngman is the Assistant on the National Adidas lacrosse team for Rochester.  In 2008 he helped coach the Rochester team to a Championship and a chance to face the Canadian Championship team in Florida for the Brogden Cup Title.

 

Prior to arriving at Irondequoit, Youngman was the Assistant Coach at Division III SUNY Geneseo.   The team held an overall record of 24-8 in his 2 seasons and qualified for the ECAC tournament and also the NCAA tournament where they made it to the Quarterfinals.

 

Youngman was a four year starter at Geneseo and was a four year varsity player for West Irondequoit.  He has worked numerous lacrosse camps on the East Coast.

Jason Mordaci (Director of Counselors and Activities) jason_mordaci@lax4lifelacrosse.com


Coach Mordaci is currently a Social Studies teacher in the Webster Central School District, and was the Assistant Coach of the Webster Thomas Varsity team from 2006-2008.  Following the 2006 season, he received the Monroe County Assistant Coach of the year award for his work on the Thomas sidelines.  Prior to arriving at Webster, Mordaci assisted his alma mater Irondequoit High School for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

Mordaci graduated from Nazareth College in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.  While at Naz, Mordaci had a stellar career.  After red-shirting the 2001 season Mordaci saw plenty of action.  In 2003 Mordaci scored 34 goals from the midfield and earned himself a spot on the Empire 8 All-Conference team (1st Team). 

Before playing for the Golden Flyers, Mordaci attended Monroe Community College and was a first line midfielder for the 1999 and 2000 seasons.  In 2000, he scored 70+ points from the midfield earning himself 1st team All-Region III and 2nd team JUCO All-American (the first All-American in the Tribunes history). 

Mordaci is a 1998 graduate of Irondequoit High School where he was a 3 year starter at the Midfield for the Indians.  In his senior season, he scored 33 goals from the midfield earning himself a spot on the HM All-Monroe County team.  Mordaci also played Ice Hockey for the Indians.

Coach Mordaci is also a veteran of many of the top summer lacrosse camps in the USA.

John Hanss - john_hanss@lax4lifelacrosse.com

Coach Hanss is currently working in West Irondequoit and is the Head Assistant at Victor High School. 

Prior to arriving at Victor, Hanss had a stellar four year career as a Long Stick Midfielder at Nazareth College under Coach Rob Randall.  During his career at Nazareth, Hanss played regularly in each game over his four seasons (2005-2008).  In 2008, Hanss was selected team captain and named Defensive MVP. He also received All-Empire 8 HM honors in both his Junior and Senior seasons.  During his time at Nazareth, the team reached the NCAA tournament twice, won two Empire 8 championships, and two ECAC Upstate Championships.

 

Hanss is a 2004 graduate of Irondequoit High School, where he played varsity lacrosse for three seasons under Coach John Pratt.  He earned All-Monroe County as a Junior (2nd team) and as a Senior (1st Team), and was selected to play in the Senior All-Star game.

 

Hanss is a veteran camp counselor in Upstate NY.  He brings tremendous knowledge about the defensive aspects of lacrosse, from the perspectives of both a midfielder and a close defensemen.
